Time Square partnership launch electric charging points

Warrington & Co. and Muse Developments have installed 56 electric charging points at its Time Square multi-storey car park, as part of its commitment to reducing pollution, while increasing the uptake of low-emission electric vehicles in the town centre.

The launch of the new charging points at the 1,160-space multi-storey car park – one of the largest number at any one location in the UK – comes as the partnership throws its support behind Clean Air Day 2019, which encourages everyone to take steps to help make the air cleaner.

Clean Air Day is the nationwide air quality awareness day, organised by the behaviour-change charity Global Action Plan. It gives people the chance to find out more about air pollution, share information with friends and colleagues, and help make the air cleaner and healthier for everyone.

Leon Guyett, development director at Muse Developments, said: “The installation of these new charging points serves as a reminder to us all to look at our carbon emissions, and importantly how we can reduce them.

“Time Square aims to be at the forefront in terms of both its design, the type of occupiers, but also in terms of sustainability, so naturally we’re delighted that these charging points are now switched on for visitors to use.”

Warrington Borough Council leader, Cllr Russ Bowden, said: “It’s great news that our new electric charging points are up-and-running. It’s part of our plans to protect Warrington’s environment, now and in the future.

“We are committed to improving air quality in Warrington. It’s only right that our flagship Time Square development supports this, leading the way with facilities which encourage the use of low emission electric vehicles in our town centre.”

The announcement follows news that The Botanist is set to open a 10,000 sq ft regional flagship at the £142m mixed-use scheme, alongside a state-of-the-art 13-screen, 2,500 seat Cineworld complex, that will serve as Time Square’s leisure anchors. The development also includes a continental European-style market hall, and new offices for Warrington Borough Council all set around an attractive, high-quality public realm.

Time Square is being delivered by Warrington & Co., on behalf of Warrington Borough Council, in partnership with urban regeneration specialists, Muse Developments.
