Plymouth scheme scoops best residential development title
Millbay’s impressive latest phase of development – Quadrant Quay – has scooped the title of Residential Development of the Year at the 2015 Insider Property Awards South West.
Located on the eastern quaysides of the historic former Millbay Docks in Plymouth, Quadrant Quay has proved hugely popular with home buyers as well as forming a key link between the regeneration and city centre.
The wider Millbay regeneration scheme is an exciting mix of residential, leisure, business and retail development, with high quality public spaces and direct access to the waterfront. Its lead developer English Cities Fund (ECf) is a joint venture between Muse Developments, Legal and General and the Homes and Communities Agency.
Quadrant Quay’s nomination highlighted its stunning contemporary looks, high-quality specification, its waterfront location, innovative design, the significant community benefits it is bringing and that fact that the scheme has been a resounding commercial success - with 60% of homes sold/reserved off-plan and now just one available for purchase.
Guests at a packed awards ceremony held at the Bristol Marriot were told that judges were impressed with the way Millbay’s regeneration was transforming the docks into a new coastal quarter and had praised the scheme as an example of a public/private partnership that really works. Judges also noted how the scheme is making a big difference to the local community.
It was "Millbay by a mile" said one judge.
Duncan Cumberland, Development Director for Muse Developments, which is one of the partners in ECf, said: “A great deal of work and investment has gone into ensuring that the regeneration of Millbay is based on thoughtful planning, high quality design and finishes and the important role the scheme has in delivering significant benefits for the local area and the wider city.
“We’re really pleased and proud to see the success of Quadrant Quay and Millbay recognised through this award and we look forward to future phases of development which will complete the regeneration of the area as a vibrant waterfront destination for Plymouth, Britain’s Ocean City.”
Quadrant Quay boasts 102 apartments and split level family homes and townhouses, many with views of the water and beyond, and featuring high standards of external/internal and public realm finishes, offering as standard quality floor finishes, built-in wardrobe to the master bedroom, contemporary styled fitted kitchen with built-in appliances and a parking space with every property.
Designed by award-winning architects HTA to be as light and airy as possible, the one and two bedroom apartments and spacious two and three bed penthouses reflect the waterside location they enjoy, and many benefit from either a balcony or terrace too.
Quadrant Quay has also delivered phase one of a long-held Plymouth ambition for a new boulevard reconnecting the city centre and waterfront.
