Next Phase starts at Doncaster CCQ
Muse Developments and Doncaster Council have today announced plans for the next phase of construction at the Doncaster Civic and Cultural Quarter.
Construction has now begun at the first phase of residential which has been called ‘The Gables’ at the £300 million scheme.
Specialist housing contractor Lovell - Muse’s sister company and part of the Morgan Sindall Group - has been appointed for the construction of the first residential phase of 54 new homes. These will be the first high quality modern houses to be built in the town centre in a number of years. Contemporary in design and constructed using traditional materials, homes at ‘The Gables’ are designed to have low running costs and maintenance needs.
The Civic and Cultural Quarter regeneration scheme is transforming the Waterdale area of Doncaster and has already seen the completion of the new civic offices, refurbished former Southern Bus Station Car Park and public square. The new performance venue which has recently been named Cast is due to open in September.
Hollie Reynolds, residential sales and marketing manager at Muse:
“The start of construction and naming of ‘The Gables’ marks another step forward in this significant regeneration scheme. It is very exciting for us to be able to introduce a range of homes that are attractive and affordable into the heart of Doncaster.
“I have no doubt that demand will be high and we are keen to encourage all interested parties to register their interest early.”
Set alongside the new Civic and Cultural Quarter and its planned cinema and restaurant led leisure scheme, ‘The Gables’ is both at the centre of local life and a step away from the bustle.
The latest Government-backed scheme ‘Help to Buy’ will be available at the development which means that home-buyers can be helped onto the property ladder with as little as 5% deposit. Blundells Estate Agency has been appointed as sales agents and prospective purchasers can register their interest now.
Scott Cardwell, assistant director for development at Doncaster Council:
“This new phase of residential development is fantastic news for Doncaster. It is testament to the public/ private partnership that we have developed with Muse that this significant scheme has continued through the recession, to create a beautiful Civic and Cultural Quarter which now is set to become an appealing home address for a new generation of families and home-owners.”
