Muse in Insider Wales win for Colwyn Bay
Muse Developments has taken home the gold in the Workplace Design category for their striking 100,000 sq ft civic office for Conwy Country Borough Council at this year’s Insider Wales Property Awards.
Many of the industry’s leading figures from across Wales gathered at Cardiff City Hall, to celebrate the sector’s success over the last 12 months, with compere, comedian and author, Ian Moore.
Muse took top spot after judges were impressed with the scheme’s maximised daylight, breakout space, a clear layout, gardens and a range of sustainability measures.
The four-storey, AHR-designed, BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rated building was built by Bowmer & Kirkland, forward funded by M&G Investments and will consolidate 13 offices, accommodating up to 780 Conwy County Borough Council workers.
The scheme is the latest phase in the council’s continued regeneration of the town, which has seen over £50m invested to modernise the historic promenade, coastal defences, along with a new beach and the redevelopment of the stadium and events centre at Parc Eirias.
Mike Horner, development director at Muse Developments, was delighted with the win. He said: “We are delighted to win this prestigious award, which highlights how, through true collaboration, you can deliver a striking scheme that meets the needs of both the client, and importantly the community.
“Any award that we win is a proud moment for everyone at Muse, as it recognises our commitment to our partners, to the towns and cities we serve and showcases the hard work of our regional team.”
Dominic Manfredi, AHR director, said: “We’re hugely proud to receive this award with Muse and to have played a part in the successful delivery of the council’s transformational new working environment in Colwyn Bay.
“It was important for the design to respond to the council’s brief to encourage a more flexible approach to working and we believe we’ve delivered just that.”
