Muse and The English Cities Fund shortlisted for two North West Insider Awards
Muse Developments and The English Cities Fund have been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s coveted North West Insider Residential Property Awards.
Following an early completion in December, The Slate Yard has been recognised by the judging panel for the Apartment Scheme of the Year award.
The residential development is part of the increasingly diverse New Bailey scheme in Salford. At 21 storeys high, the Build to Rent (BTR) development has delivered 199 high-quality apartments, including 98 one bedroom, 81 two bedroom and 20 three-bedroom homes. To drive local growth and community wealth, The English Cities Fund – a joint venture between Muse, Legal & General and Homes England - in partnership with Salford Council and contractor, Morgan Sindall Construction, created £26m of social value locally, with £2.36 reinvested into the community for every £1 spent during the scheme’s construction.
In addition, one of Muse’s flagship North West schemes, New Victoria in Manchester, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Deal of the Year award, following a £130m forward funding deal with Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC), which represented PIC’s first foray into the Build to Rent market as a long-term investment, and the largest Build to Rent-led forward funding deal in 2020.
The first phase at New Victoria will bring forward 450,000 sq ft of residential development with 520 new homes and first-class amenities, due for completion in 2024.
Phil Mayall, regional director at Muse, said: “We’re delighted to have been named in such good company and be recognised by our peers for our commitment to delivering high-quality homes in towns and cities through our brand of repurposed regeneration.
“Despite the challenges ahead surrounding the pandemic, we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our experience tells us that our towns and cities will be the heart of the country’s economic revival and there’s still a demand for innovative homes close to key amenities and transport infrastructure, to drive local economic growth and prosperity.
Winners will be announced – should the current lockdown, and restrictions on social distancing be eased - at a glittering award ceremony at Manchester Central on Thursday 15 July.
