Muse’s North West home receives BCO fit out award
Muse Developments’ office fit out of Riverside House in Salford has taken home the Workplace Fitout of the Year Award at this year’s virtual British Council for Offices (BCO) Awards on Wednesday 21 October.
Riverside House was delivered by The English Cities Fund – a strategic joint venture between national urban regenerator, Muse Developments, Legal & General and Homes England.
The innovative office development, which was formally the Royal Veterans’ Tavern is fully let to fund partner, Muse Developments and Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group. Completing in Q4 2019, the team meticulously restored the original 19th Century façade on two sides of the building, alongside a complete new build of the internal structure. The works resulted in an additional floor being added to Riverside House and the original footprint doubling in size.
The fit out of the scheme was completed by Muse’s sister company, Overbury plc, with the designs coming from renowned interior designers, Space Invaders. The interior of the scheme needed to reflect Muse’s brand and ethos, with colleague wellbeing at its heart and a move towards a more agile working environment.
Judges cited the scheme as “A breakthrough project that defines what a modern office should be and epitomises the incredible strides forward in urban regeneration.”
Phil Marsden, project manager at Muse Developments, said: “We’re extremely honoured to receive this award, which highlights the attention to detail that’s gone into delivering Riverside. From the outset we wanted to provide a special place for our North West colleagues that they would be proud to call ‘home’.”
“We’re committed to delivering the very best, sustainable and inspiring workplaces that promote wellness and next generation working environments, so it means a lot to have that recognised by the BCO. Delivering these developments is always a team effort, so I’d like to thank our partners and consultants for the role they’ve all played in delivering excellent offices across the region.”
Peter Knight, managing director of Overbury Northern, said “We’re proud to be able to assist Muse with this very special project. A brave, exciting design that has transformed the space and provided a new desirable office by a passionate team we felt privileged to work with. We’re particularly delighted and grateful that the project has been recognised by the BCO.”
