Cheadle Royal green travel initiative rolls on
Following a successful first year, Cheadle Royal Business Park has injected additional funding to extend its popular commuter bus service.
The green travel initiative – launched in 2011 by Muse Developments in conjunction with local company and registered charity Easy-Go CT (Community Transport) – is currently used by up to 450 commuters each month, and steadily increasing, providing people who work and run businesses at Cheadle Royal with an alternative, car-free travel option. The service will now be extended for another 12 months, with additional pick-up points and journey times having also been added.
Wes Erlam, senior development surveyor at Muse Developments, commented: “Cheadle Royal Business Park is extremely well located, enjoying access to comprehensive local road and motorway links as well as being close to bus and train services. The shuttle bus service is a key ingredient in supporting this network and we’re keen to continue to maintain this initiative."
The shuttle bus scheme currently helps to save around 500 car journeys to and from the south Manchester business park each month. By providing extra transport options, it has also allowed companies based at Cheadle Royal to continue to attract high calibre, skilled and productive employees.
Wes added: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the popularity of the service and the feedback has been fantastic across the board. The bus has helped to address the issue of traffic congestion around the park and has provided a sustainable alternative for employees and businesses.”
Chris Burgess, Chair of Easy-Go CT, commented: “This is a great initiative that enables those who wish to use public transport to enjoy door-to-door travel, right to their place of employment. Community transport aims to provide this type of tailored service and encourage less dependence on the car and promotes a more eco-friendly way of travelling to work.”
