Plymouth Millbay
The regeneration of Millbay will transform a derelict 15 acre harbourside area close to the city centre into an exciting new waterfront community. Two million sq ft of development will include flats and houses (including affordable homes), retail/ leisure space and offices as well as new public squares, walking routes/ cycle ways and extensive off-street car parking.
Key elements of the site have already been progressed, including the award-winning ‘Cargo’ scheme and Phoenix Quay, and planning consent was recently secured for the second phase of mixed-use development, comprising 48 new homes (houses and apartments) and further commercial space. There is a rolling programme of work to develop the remainder of the site in successive phases.
Dredging work was completed ahead of schedule and a marina operator has recently been appointed to bring Millbay’s inner basin back to life.
The scheme is being developed by Muse as development manager (and partner) in English Cities Fund, a delivery vehicle created in partnership with Legal & General and the Homes & Communities Agency to pave the way for higher levels of private investment in the re-shaping of our towns and cities.
