New homes unveiled at Northshore
Monday 23rd April 2012
The £100 million, 23-hectare mixed-use Northshore regeneration scheme on Stockton's riverside continues apace.
On Friday, key stakeholders were invited to see the next exciting stage of development as the new Vivo show homes were officially unveiled. The event follows the successful sales launch which took place at the end of March.
Vivo is the name given to the initial phase of homes which are in walking distance of Stockton town centre and feature interiors designed by specialists Claude Hooper.
Vivo is being developed by Muse in partnership with sister company and award winning house-builder, Lovell, and the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA) supported by Stockton Council and Tees Valley Housing.
Addressing partners at the opening, Matt Crompton, joint managing director of Muse Developments, said: “Northshore is one of the most exciting regeneration projects in the North and today’s official opening of the show homes at Vivo - which will no doubt act as a catalyst for further development within the Northshore regeneration area – marks an exciting step forward for the scheme.”
Anne Mulroy, Head of Area, HCA added: “Building on our earlier investment in remediating the site, the HCA has invested a further £1.5 million funding for this first phase. These stunning new homes are setting a benchmark for high-quality housing in the North-East and I have no doubt that they will help to unlock the potential of this fantastic waterside location.”
Vivo comprises 50 two, three and four bedroom houses in an ideal riverside location next to the iconic Infinity Bridge. Built to a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 standard, the properties will lead the way in terms of urban design and sustainability. New residents will benefit from some of the best energy saving systems available including photovoltaic panels, rainwater harvesting and smart meters. The scheme has been carefully designed to take advantage of its prominent south facing, waterside location.
Noel Adams, regional director, Lovell said: “As joint venture partner with Muse for this first phase, we are delighted to be here for the opening of the show homes at this landmark regeneration housing development. Vivo has already generated a lot of interest locally and is helping to revitalise the area through the creation of new high quality and sustainable family homes. This is a unique scheme within the North East.”
Following the launch of the scheme five homes have been sold off plan and a further three reservations have been made.
Tees Valley Housing is offering 12 homes for affordable rent and three for affordable home ownership under its 'rent now, buy later' scheme as part of the Vivo development.
Doug Ross, managing director of Tees Valley Housing, said: “We are delighted to work alongside Muse and Lovell to provide this exciting regeneration opportunity. Being able to support this initiative by providing different rental options helps make Vivo a truly sustainable development.”
Leader of Stockton Council, Councillor Bob Cook, said: "Vivo at Northshore is a key part of the many ambitious, multi-million pound regeneration projects on-going across Stockton Borough so it is fantastic to see the scheme is rapidly progressing.
"The Riverside has already benefitted from significant investment including the £4.6 million Tees Barrage International White Water Centre and the Wolfson Institute at Durham University and further investment is planned as part of the £20 million redevelopment of Stockton town centre.
"Anyone who chooses to live at Northshore will be able to enjoy the benefits of being within easy reach of the town centre which regularly hosts all manner of nationally acclaimed events and festivals.
"It is certainly an exciting time to live in Stockton so I would encourage people interested in looking for a new home to come and see what Vivo at Northshore has to offer."
Plans for the next phase of development are expected to be submitted later this year.
House prices at Vivo start from £126,500. For further details visit www.vivonorthshore.com or call 01642 676080.
Ends.
