Further development at Doncaster Waterdale
Wednesday 16th March 2011
Progress continues apace at Doncaster’s Civic and Cultural Quarter scheme; with the announcement that the 850 space southern multi-storey car park is to undergo a £2.5 million refurbishment.
Working as development partner with Doncaster Council, Muse Developments has selected contractor and sister company, Morgan Sindall, to complete the works which will see an extensive range of improvements made to the existing building, providing car users with a safe and secure parking experience and ensuring that the building fits into its new environment in this new quarter of Doncaster.
Dan Needham, regional director for Muse commented: “This extensive refurbishment will provide visitors with a much improved parking experience and will ensure that the car park sits well within its new environment in Doncaster’s Civic and Cultural Quarter. Work continues to progress at the scheme with construction now well under way on the council offices, and a start at the new performance venue expected in the summer."
Councillor Jonathan Wood, cabinet member for business and regeneration, said: “The new look car park will provide visitors to the Civic and Cultural Quarter with good quality parking. It will support people going to the new performance venue, the integrated customer service for council services or meeting friends in the public square. It is part of the masterplan designed to revitalise Waterdale and boost our economy.”
Work is set to get under way later this month and should be completed by September 2011. The car park will remain open during the works with minimum impact on users.
