Residential JV with Miller Homes
Monday 7th February 2011
Muse Developments has formed a partnership with Miller Homes to deliver a new £28 million housing project in Bearsden on the site of the former St. Andrews campus.
The partnership will form part of our wider £35m programme to regenerate this prime site in the aspirational Glasgow suburb.
At the same time we have agreed terms with Bupa Care Services for the sale of part of the site for the construction of a specialist 60-bed care home.
Miller’s investment demonstrates a clear commitment to the redevelopment of this important site which is set to transform the landscape with a range of modern accommodation offering spectacular views to the surrounding countryside from what will be known as St. Andrews Brae.
Outline planning consent has been granted by East Dunbartonshire Council for the delivery of 70 top quality, four-bedroom family homes and 24 two-bedroom flats.
David Knight, managing director of Miller Homes, said: “This investment reflects our confidence in the housing market generally and Bearsden in particular. This is an ideal location for us to build and sell new homes and we look forward to working with Muse Developments to deliver this project."
Steve Turner, regional director for Muse Developments in Scotland said: “This is a great result for all involved and we are delighted that Miller Homes shares our vision for the site and recognises the advantages of being involved in this development. The company has a solid reputation and successful track record in the industry and the style and design of the proposed accommodation will sit well within the surrounding landscape.”
We will now work with both Miller and Bupa towards securing detailed planning consent with a view to construction commencing by the end of the year
Jamie Doran of CBRE said: “This is a prime development site within Bearsden and we are delighted to have secured the deal for Miller Homes to develop their range of product in partnership with our clients, Muse Developments. Amidst a residential marketplace of great uncertainty this is a very positive statement from both parties of their commitment to the Scottish market.”
