Meet the buyer event offers opportunities to local companies
Wednesday 5th January 2011
Major construction projects in Doncaster are to provide business opportunities for the local community at a ‘Meet the Buyer’ event being held this month.
The building of new Doncaster civic offices by Doncaster Council and development partner Muse Developments will offer potential work and business to local individuals, suppliers and contractors. The new civic offices form part of the first phase of Doncaster’s Civic and Cultural Quarter (CCQ) project. In addition there will be opportunities at the construction of a new school for Campsmount Technology College.
The event takes place at Doncaster Racecourse on Thursday 13 January 2011. Two welcome sessions will take place starting at 4pm and 6pm. Tthe event will finish at 8pm.
Visitors will have the chance to meet and discuss requirements with Wates Construction, the contractor behind the two council led projects, and their key supply chain partners.
Mayor of Doncaster Peter Davies, who will welcome people to the event, said: “An important objective during the construction of the Civic and Cultural Quarter is to ensure local people and companies have access to business, work, supply chain and training opportunities. This will be an excellent networking event for anyone working in the construction industry.”
Muse Developments project director Michael Broadhead said: “The regeneration of Doncaster town centre is a fantastic opportunity for the local community. This event is just one of the initiatives we have in place to get everyone involved.”
Invest in Doncaster will promote the ‘Meet the Buyer’ event to the local business community. Aspiration Doncaster, part of the Success Doncaster programme, will work with Wates and the main subcontractors to fulfil any employment opportunities that may arise.

Doncaster’s new performance venue and civic square, built in phase one of the CCQ, will also feature opportunities for local companies to get involved.
The CCQ project is in part supported financially by the European Union, as part of the European Regional Development Fund. The Department for Education (DfE) has supported the building of a new Campsmount school.
