Kids get close to nature at Cheadle Royal

Nearly 100 children got close to nature at a unique wildlife exploration day held on 14 October at Cheadle Royal.

Together with Cheshire Wildlife Trust, we opened up the business park to children aged between three and four years old.

Cheadle Royal boasts unrivalled surroundings with 70 acres of mature parkland, a collection of attractive lakes bursting with wildlife and carefully developed landscape – a world away from the typical hustle and bustle of city centre life.

Children from nurseries both on and off the business park - including independent childcare centre Kids Allowed, Busy Bees and Asquith Nurseries, which is based at the David Lloyd Leisure Club - enjoyed a wide range of fun-filled activities devised by the Trust, following a comprehensive audit of the park’s wildlife and surroundings.

The youngsters were treated to nature-themed activities, such as ‘Wildlife I Spy’, bark rubbing, scavenger hunts and environmental games.  Each activity was designed to be educational, while allowing the children to appreciate the idyllic scenery on offer at the unique business park.

We firmly believe that the park is an integral part of the wider community and teaming up with Cheshire Wildlife Trust has given us the perfect opportunity to put something back.  It has also enabled youngsters to enjoy the unique qualities that set Cheadle Royal apart from so many other parks across the UK.

Cheshire Wildlife Trust works alongside schools and young people to help pupils learn about wildlife in an interactive way, as part of their Key Stage 1 and 2 studies, often in an outdoor context.

A key source of funding for much of the Trust’s education work is Cheshire Wildlife Trust’s corporate membership scheme, which we're pleased to support.  Through the scheme, many businesses throughout Cheshire contribute funding, resources and volunteers to further the work of the Trust. Many have been instrumental in helping the Trust to deliver major educational schemes and public events.
